romantic killer is a new '22 romcom series on netflix that ran for 12 episodes. anzu, a totally relatable video game, chocolate, and cat lover gets visited by a wizard who promises her a romance-filled otome game life if she gives up these three basic needs (against her will). unhappy about the sudden change in lifestyle, our non-heroine vows not to fall in love to put a wrench in the wizard's plans and have her needs returned to her.

we meet our first ikemen- my personal favourite >__< - kazuki, when anzu runs into his phone and breaks it. riri (the wizard) sets up many unfortunate scenarios to create the perfect romantic environment for the two, while anzu does her best to resist.

kazuki is the cool type, with a deep voice and reputation to never smile which makes him quite popular with the ladies.

he's really a sweet boy, though! the cool type doing caring things like offering an umbrella makes me soooo happy >o<!!

next up is junta, our osana najimi- the necessary childhood friend. junta is a sporty boy who's had a crush on anzu since elementary school. despite the friends-to-lovers trope being a personal fav, i just couldn't resist kazuki's charm.. sorry junta!

when the secret about junta was revealed, it warmed up the permafrost on my heart. i miss the little neighbour boy i used to play with ;;

rider if you're out there. . . call me xP

and finally, our prince type arrives... by hitting anzu with his car :p she wasn't eating toast while shouting chikoku chikoku... but he was xD this series knows the troupes well, so anzu's life being like a dating sim is suuuper accurate.

when anzu doesn't show interest in our wealthy ikemen hijiri like all the other girls, he makes it his goal to win her over by offering presents of chocolate, games, and kittens... what a score ^^

ever-stubborn anzu of course, says no >>

as romcoms go, this one was definitely more focused on the -com aspect. it's more of a friendship-developing series than a true romance, but that doesn't mean i dislike it. kazuki's story especially showed multiple panic attacks, which i haven't seen very often in anime (in a realistic way). this was probably my favourite part of the show.

some of the comedy is overdone, but doesn't take away from the show by making you tooo sick of it.

also, as with all the other netflix anime that i have watched, the animation is very pretty. it's got the new 2020s shiny style, which works for the lightness of the show! riri, in all of their forms, shows just how bright the show gets:

aren't they cute? :p riri was a character that started out somewhat frustrating, but really grows on you. they're so bright and cheerful, with a smile on their face even as they're being beaten up by anzu ^^ plus the ending..... even anzu came to love the lil bastard >:]

despite starting and finishing this series in one day, i wasn't sure if i would have enough to say about it for a blog post! nothing i hated, nothing i was head over heels for.. just a simple and enjoyable show.

in conclusion...

★★★☆☆ 3 lucky stars.

easy watching, easy on the eyes, with a surprising special aspect that seperates it from the rest. the end left it open for a second season, but i don't think it needs one! romance should develop naturally, not by the hands of magic ^w^
