Then, Hiiro, a "Survivor of the Ogres", suddenly appears in front of Rimuru and his friends. They are reunited with a man who used to be the brother of Benimaru and his friends.
The severed "scarlet bonds" now become the guiding light for a new fight.
Quick Rundown
When the movie started I was unaware of the timeline and where it took place in the anime, thankfully that was cleared up later. The movie took place soon after the second season, tho it is still unclear if this movie is relevant to the story or if it's just a side movie that they won't mention again. I hope that the characters that were introduced in the movie will be in the anime at some time and be relevant to the story in the future.
I watched this movie in dub, as I really like the dub for this show and I recognize a lot of the voice actors from old shows.
Story and Characters
The movie started off by introducing Benimaru's brother, who we didn't find out till later that he was, he was fighting monsters it was hard to figure out if they were monsters or humans until it was clarified. He killed all the monsters and then collapsed but was then saved by Queen Towa, a new character, and was given the name Hiiro by her.
Queen Towa

Queen Towa was a pretty bland character looks-wise, at least for the anime she is in. She was also written pretty typically for a female character. She needed saving and was determined to save her people. One thing would happen she would be safe then get into trouble again. She wasn't very loveable. Overall wasn't my favorite out of the new characters that were introduced.
Hiiro

Hiro had a pretty good character design, looking similar to his kin and with the mix-matched horns. which could symbolize his fight against good and evil. He was a well-written character tho he did some stupid things, like eating a cursed orb. OR SACRIFICING HIMSELF WHEN THE GIRL SAID NOT TO.
Violet

Violet was a pretty cool character in my opinion, she has a cute character design. Although she looks very similar to Milim. She had a clear motive and was very strong, tho not as strong as Diablo, we didn't see much of her, but she was introduced as the person who cursed the tiara and lost to Diablo, making her have to undo the curse.
The first part of the movie was very confusing cause they would show a problem then....BAM! Rimiuru would solve it, it made me wonder what was gonna happen if they solved the problems so quickly. ALSO, they had Hiiro have a goal but then didn't really solve the goal, kinda said hey! they did this in the anime, you don't have to have your main goal now! and then added multiple others which were solved by Rimuru.
The story was all over the place and didn't really make sense, the characters were really the only thing that saved it. I would be waiting for one of my favorite characters to show up because everything else was kinda bland and wasn't making sense.
Another thing about characters, they probably mentioned every character in the cast for the show, which doesn't have me complaining because I like them, but still, it was odd at moments to have them in the show.
Animation and Music/Sound Effects
The animation for slime has always been id say a solid 8/10, not bad, has some really good moments so on and so forth. This movie, for being a movie had low-quality shots at moments, like when Hiiro was going berserk, but also really cool ones. Like where they did this train track shot which follows the characters running. Slime never misses really cool sound effect moments, always crisp on the ears, and made me very happy to watch. The music was also pretty awesome, I was jamming out on the last fight with the background music, made me kinda hyped about the fight.

Ending
This needs its own separate thing because, even tho I wasn't mad at it, it wasn't pleasant to see the ending of this movie. In the last bit, Hiiro was dying(turning into stone) from the effects of the orb. So Towa uses the last bit of her life force and magic from her tiara to revive him. And so he gets revived, but with the cost of Towa losing her life, but as Towa is leaving the world as particles, the person who cursed the tiara, revived her, when they shouldn't have the power to, and so Towa was able to live as well. Which was really frustrating to see because it didn't make sense for either of them to live. But I did enjoy the very very last bit where Veldora and Milim were scolded by Rimuru.

Milim and Veldora
(This isn't from the movie tho)
Overall
2.8/5 lucky stars
Not my favorite anime movie that I watched, would've been much better if the story was well-written and not all over the place.
pwrly was very enthusiastic about the ending hehe... >:) or *against* it
